interview: M.A.N.D.Y.

We’ll start with a pretty boring question, but I have to ask it though; what does M.A.N.D.Y. stand for?

There is many translations because it was never ment to be serious specified for something. We just didn´t want to call ourselves DJ Patrick & Philipp. And we wanted to hide behind someone unexisting. So we were choosing a girls name and girls photos in the beginning and we put dots in between cause of legal rights. You could call it a joke. Or you could say it stands for “Me AND You.”

How would you describe your own sound in three words?

Science Fiction Disco!

What is the single most unforgettable M.A.N.D.Y. performance so far?

Oh, there is so many more than one! Maybe one of our first club gigs we did in Frankfurt, in an illegal location, an old bunker, together with Ricardo Villalobos, 1200 people, and a mix of tons of love, sweat, drinks and dramas on the floor at 2pm, after the party finnished. That was in the year 2000.

What are the top three tracks of your current playlist?

Pan Pot – Captain my captain, Booka Shade Remix (Mobilee)

M.A.N.D.E.A.R – Buddies (Get Physical)

Fritz Kalkbrenner – Kings in Exile (Suol)

Any dream collaborators that you want to work with? Sky is your limit; those who passed away, musical acts that are no longer together… Name anyone!

Pink Floyd and Justin Timberlake, I guess.

Who are the three young and rising producers/DJ’s to keep an eye on?

Fritz Kalkbrenner, Siopis, Seth Troxler.

What should your fans expect from your upcoming Istanbul performance? Give us few sneak peaks!

Please don´t expect anything certain. Just let go!

10 years from now, where de you see yourself and M.A.N.D.Y. for sure?

On a mountain high!
